The 2017 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) results might have been released without being moderated causing mass failures witnessed, Eldoret West Knut Executive Secretary Jacob Arusei has said.
According to Mr. Arusei, moderation of the results has always been a normal practice once national examinations marking is complete.
"We are aware the exams were marked and released as they were without moderations," Arusei noted in Eldoret town on Saturday.
"The ministry of education and Knec should have allowed the raw results to be moderated because this is a normal practiced accepted internationally," he added.
The Knut official further said the examinations settings could have caused the mass failures.
"Education stakeholders need to ask themselves hard questions about those results. Could it be that teachers are not preparing candidates well enough? Could it be that students are not putting in enough efforts or maybe the examinations settings was not correct," Arusei said.
