Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) leaders have vowed to campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta until he is elected in in the October 17 presidential elections.

Led by Eldoret East Knut Secretary General John Boor they said President Kenyatta deserves a second term to complete the projects he has initiated.

“As teachers leaders from the North rift we have decided to support President Kenyatta without being coerced or forced by anyone. His track record speaks for itself and we have faith in his leadership,” they said in Eldoret town, Monday.

“We will embark on door to door campaigns to ensure that he wins the October 17th presidential elections with over 70+1 votes. This time round it’s not business as usual,” they added.

They urged teachers to come in large numbers during the election and vote president Kenyatta since he has done a lot to Kenyans and teachers at large.

“It is under his tenure that our salaries were increased, teachers promoted and where exam cheating was abolished. What else do we need? It is either now or never,” they said.

The union officials however, distanced themselves from past sentiments attributed to their national Secretary General Wilson Sossion who is currently ODM nominated MP that the teaching fraternity will rally behind National Super Alliance Presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) leaders included Joseph Serem Nandi (Knut executive secretary) and Elgeyo Marakwet KNUT executive Secretary John Cheberer.
