A section of Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) officials from Uasin Gishu County have asked Prof Jacob Kaimenyi to apologise to the union’s Secretary General Wilson Sossion for harassing him.
Speaking in Eldoret, the Knut executive secretary of Wareng’ Sub County, John Boor, said that Prof Kaimenyi had shown disrespect to Sossion.
Boor accused Kaimenyi of being unable to handle the office of the Ministry of Education and therefore suggested that he should quit.
“The Cabinet Secretary is failing the Ministry and as Knut officials we are not impressed by his remarks to arrest our secretary general,” said Boor.
He warned that the teaching fraternity will down their tools if the CS will not correct his utterances.
"We cannot sit down and watch our secretary general being harassed, if action will not be taken, we will handle the matter on our own," said Boor
Alice Tuwei, a member of the National Executive Council said that Kaimenyi has brought disorganization in the ministry of education.
“Kaimenyi has confused almost everything in the Ministry, from denying school ranking to deciding what time students should arrive in school,” said Tuwei.
Tuwei said that the CS should keep off the Knut affairs and should let teachers handle their own issues.
She said that the confiscated phone that belongs to the secretary general should be returned immediately.
