The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has expressed opposition to a proposal by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to transfer teachers from their local areas.
KNUT Chepkoilel branch secretary general Sammy Bor says local teachers understands well the problems at the ground.Bor further expressed concerns that the new teachers might not understand the area well subsequently affecting the quality of education."As KNUT we are against transferring of local teachers since this will disadvantage them and will lead to poor performance," said the Chepkoilel branch secretary general, Tuesday."The Ministry of Education should consult us first before making any transfers, local teachers solve local education problems," added Bor.He, further, opposed the move by TSC to employ intern teachers to fill the 100,000 national shortage."The move is undermining the Kenyan teacher. I call upon TSC to rethink about this issue as intern teachers equally qualify to be employed into permanent and pensionable terms as their counterparts who are already in service," Bor noted. To be the first to get the latest Political News updates for free, WhatsApp the word "POLITICS" to 0717410719.
