Speaking in Eldoret town on Saturday Arusei said the delocalization exercise that has seen over 500 headteachers and principals transferred was uncalled for and that KNUT was not consulted before it was effected.

“As KNUT we are against transfers of teachers away from their home counties without all stakeholders being consulted, we read malice in this move and we won’t allow it at all. TSC should ensure that we are consulted before effecting any reforms,” said Arusei.

He noted that the ongoing transfers might disrupt learning leading to poor performance apart from separation of families.

“Delocalization amounts to intimidation, and perfected form of workplace bullying as sometimes teachers are quartered in unfamiliar and hostile environments they are not prepared to,” added the Eldoret West KNUT boss.

The transfer programme was rolled out by TSC at the beginning of this year which saw over 500 principals and head teachers transferred outside their home counties.

The KNUT official now wants TSC to embrace dialogue over the delocalization programme.

He also expressed concerns over the Teachers Performance Appraisal and Development tool (TPAD) it will be used to victimize teachers when seeking promotion and unfairly blame them for poor performance.
