Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) secretary general, Wilson Sossion and chairman, Mudzo Nzili expressed concerns over the IEBC mayhem saying it crippling the education sector.
While addressing the press in Nairobi on Tuesday, Knut officials said the ongoing IEBC demos were directly affecting school going children. They said it is evident the demonstrations have kept a good number of learners away from school.
Sossion has since urged the members of both political divides to find an amicable solution for the problem.
The officials asserted that they are united and rubbished division claims. They claim the rumours are meant to scuttle the union and consequently erode their bargaining power.
Sossion faulted the salaries and remuneration commission for what he termed as a deliberate move to deny them their funds in the upcoming budget. He asked the Salaries Remuneration Commission (SRC) to make its recommendations to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) public.
The union is the latest outfit to add its voice on the need for peace after a series of anti-IEBC demonstrations brought businesses in some parts of the country to a standstill.
