Kisumu serial killer Harrison Okumu has been killed by fellow inmates at the Kodiaga main prison where he was remanded for the 2013 killings. Nyanza regional prison commandant Amos Misik confirmed that the serial killer is dead but felt short to explain how he met his demise. Misik said the matter is now a police case and they would find out what caused his death. “The cause of his death forms part of the investigations which police officers will carry out in conjunction with my officers at the facility,” he said. An inmate whose identity remains anonymous confirmed that Okumu was strangled to death in one of the cells by fellow inmates on Wednesday evening. The death of the serial killer follows his attempted suicide last year in December when he set himself ablaze inside his prison cell, thereby suffering severe burns. He was admitted at the Kisumu district hospital where he was treated and discharged. Kisumu County police commandant Nelson Njiri confirmed that his office received phone call from the prison reporting an attack on Okumu in one of the prison cells. “It is true Okumu has been attacked by fellow inmates and my officers have rushed to the scene. I will give a comprehensive report once I am briefed accordingly,” he said over the phone.
