Speaking to the media on Tuesday, the Garissa Township MP claimed that Annan and France were directly involved in manipulating the polls that saw Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed lose the position of the much coveted AU Commission chair, the Star has reported.

"A number of issues which were at play. I even saw a group of activists led by Kofi Annan at the ICC discrediting our candidate," Duale said.

On France, Duale said the European country's supposed participation in the polls is suspect, adding that it is fighting to colonise Africa again.

Amina lost to her Chad counterpart Moussa Faki Mahamat in a vote that took seven rounds.

Ghana's former foreign minister Thomas Kwesi Qwartey is set to deputise Mahat at the AUC.
