Gor Mahia skipper Harun Shakava has exuded confidence that his side will manage to retain the Sportpesa Super Cup title they won in Tanzania in 2017 when the tourney kicks off again in the country on Sunday, June 3.
Speaking to his club website, the Kenyan international however voiced his concerns over the current good form exhibited by Tanzanian giants Simba FC, noting that they were the main challenge in their efforts for a back-to-back victory of the annual bonanza.
Playing tournament matches are always hard because every team wants to give their best and chances are equal so we cant look down on any team.
"We respect all the teams but we are seeing Simba as the main challenge because they have been enjoying some good run in their league. But that doesn't mean they will have an easy one, no," he said.
K'ogalo will kick off their title defense against Tanzania's Jeshi La Kujenga Uchumi (JKU) on June 3 and a win could see them set a date with local rivals AFC Leopards in the semifinals.
Other teams that will also feature in the 8-day extravaganza include Yanga, Kariobangi Sharks, and Kakamega Homeboyz. The winner of the tournament will face off against English Premier League side Everton FC at the Goodison Park.
