Speaking during a live interview at a Nakuru-based radio station, Sauti ya Mwananchi, the outspoken politician congratulated President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration for devolving the national celebrations that are, for the first time, being held in Nakuru County.

“Yes we gained independence, but why have we not reached the Promised Land? Because our ‘Moses’, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, died in the wilderness and failed to give us a Joshua who would have led us all the way to Canaan,” he said.

“Corruption, negative ethnicity, diseases, poor leadership and lack of proper education system, are the five main factors that unless we deal with them, we shall never be like Scandinavia or Norway, that I call heaven on earth,” Koigi said.

Speaking at the same program, Rift Valley Council of Elders chairman Gilbert Kabage, said: “It will be ironical for Jubilee leaders to tell Kenyans today that this country has had developments while they very well know that her(Kenya) children are very poor, and without water and food.”
