In a Facebook post on Monday, Wamwere condemned the leaders for remaining silent while more and more insults are being hurled the African way.

He termed the same as a weakness reducing the African dignity in the eyes of foreigners, adding that the same has been brought to the Kenyan doorstep by the Chinese, hence their recent film deemed abusive to Kenyans.

''Yesterday, President Trump called Africans the worst possible insult when considering whether to give them aid or not. Following in American footsteps, the Chinese have now called Kenyans monkeys because they have built them Standard Gauge Railway. Yet our leaders have said nothing in defense of African dignity. Do African leaders believe Africans deserve these insults?'' wrote Koigi.

The former Subukia lawmaker called for immediate action in defense of the continent, failure to which, he said, Africans will soon be completely dominated by their counterparts from the other continents.

''Who will call Africans what tomorrow? People without self-respect can only be insulted by those they worship,'' said Koigi.

Trump was also recently quoted referring to Africa as a ''shit hole.''
