This is after National Super Alliance (NASA) head of strategy David Ndii advocated for secession following disputed presidential results. According to Ndii, Kenya should be divided into pro Jubilee and pro NASA regions.
In an opinion piece published in a local paper2, Wamwere, renowned human rights activist and writer, said that electoral injustices tend to deny the Kenyan population their share of economic resources as well as political power, but secession is not the way to go about the same.
“When Kenyans wanted to end the electoral and economic injustices witnessed under one-party dictatorship, they created counties but these have ended up being dominated by ethnic elites” he states.
The politician also argues that secession is an extreme measure when it comes to the fight to liberate Kenya from poor governance, which is characterized by tribalism and other vices. He further says that the move is not different from giving each of the communities a county of its own, which is against the constitution.
