Speaking on Radio Sauti ya Mwananchi's 'Cheche' on Saturday, the popular politician recalled being discriminated and denied a job at the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK).

He, however, shied away from revealing the date of the embarrassing event and the position he sought to fill, noting that his main disqualification was his ethnicity.

"I remember being denied a job at NCCK because of my ethnic background. They said my face was that of a Kikuyu and they were trying to bring out a national look in the council!" said Wamwere.

He said that his attempts to remove himself from the group he had been placed into and face the panel as a Kenyan failed, having to drop his bid.

" My efforts to distance myself from the ethnic group I had been placed in failed as as much as I tried to explain to them that I am not from Central but from the Rift Valley, I had to leave without the job," he added.

He called for an end to ethnic balkanization, stressing on the need for Kenyans to drop their tribal identities for the nation to make bigger strides towards its set goals.
