Veteran politician and former Subukia MP Koigi wa Wamwere has said Kenyan leaders grab power to loot from poor Kenyans rather than serve them.
The Jubilee critic has come out to claim that when some Kenyans say Uhuru Kenyatta is “their President”, it is to the detriment of his presidency.
Wamwere said owning the President at the exclusion of others makes him smaller which also exclude from him from other Kenyans who never voted for him.
He added that as President Kenyatta declared that he is a President of all Kenyans, he should serve equally, whether they voted for him or not.
In his column in the Star, the former prisoner said Kenya suffers from a disease where leadership has only one meaning and purpose: getting as rich as possible, as soon as possible and by whatever means necessary.
He argued that if the logic of 'get wealth and eat' continues people will resort to whatever means, including stealing, plundering, looting, robbing and grabbing whatever is available, unclaimed and unprotected by power.
