Speaking on Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi's 'Cheche' Saturday, the leader who has been a strong critic of the President lauded his newly launched anti-graft campaign, at a time when the menace seems to be on the increase.

Speaking during the 55th Madaraka Day celebrations in Meru on Friday, the President announced more measures to tame the harmful trend, ordering a fresh vetting on all state procurement officers and their accounting counterparts.

"I support Uhuru and his government's moves towards eradicating corruption and I truly wish him victory in the battle as a win will mean alot for the country," he said.

He, however, noted that the reignited push risks a defeat if wrongly handled, advising the head of state to start from his own quarters and surrender his own officials suspected of graft dealings to the relevant authorities.

"He should start from his own office where he has personally admitted that there exists some corrupt individuals. He hasn't failed because of lack of evidence but because of his government's unwillingness to deal with the many people who have ended up being controversially acquitted," added the former Subukia parliamentarian.
