Veteran politician Koigi Wa Wamwere has proposed the investigation of retired Presidents Daniel Moi and Mwai Kibaki, in line with the ongoing anti-corruption campaign.
The former lawmaker further called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta to also embrace the same, to boost his renewed effort as a goodwill demonstration.
"Uhuru must lead by example in the ongoing battle and allow himself to be investigated. Retired Presidents Moi and Kibaki should also be subjected to the same as proof that he really means his words," he said.
Citing South Korea and Brazil where ex-leaders have recently been jailed in line with graft cases during their tenure, he said that the same needs to apply to the country to succeed in its bid to slay the graft monster.
"We need to go the South Korea and Brazil way, where even presidents have been punished over involvement in graft. Its unfautonate that in our country there exists a clique of individuals that can not be touched," he added.
The President has been very vocal on the issue lately, following the recent series of scandals within the government, maintaining that his government will no longer entertain the trend.
Similar remarks have since been made by his Deputy President who has expressed the government's willingness to opt for a constitutional review should it be the only remaining solution.
