Former Subukia member of parliament, Koigi Wa Mwere, blamed the Moi's regime for the death of former Saba Saba chairman, Kenneth Matiba.
According to Mr. Koigi, the torture and suffering Mr. Matiba was put through at Moi's behest was the main cause of his demise.
Speaking during an interview on JKL show on Citizen Tv Mr. Koigi said that apart from Matiba there were other sick people who were detainees in the past regime. People whom he said were also suffering just like Matiba suffered and could not even afford medication.
"I would like to say that the rule of the past presidents is the one that we can say is killing people like Matiba and other detainees who I know many are sick. Others can not afford medicine," he said.
Kenneth Matiba who was known to be a fighter of multiparty democracy in Kenya was detained during Moi's regime in the year 1990 without any trial. It was during his detention that Matiba was denied medication while serving his two year jail term.
It was through such torture that Matiba developed stroke that has ever since affected his health making him incapacitated at one point in life. According to Mr. Koigi, it is this kind of torture that caused a gradual death of Kenneth Matiba.
Due to that, Mr. Koigi demanded that the former president, Daniel Moi, apologise to the family for the death of their son.
"If you put anybody through this kind of suffering and torture, at some point this man no longer posses any threat to you. You should be able to apologise to this person. I wish someone could advise Moi to apologise," added Mr. Koigi.
The former FORD Asili founder died on the 15th of April after a long illness at Karen Hospital in Nairobi.
