In a Facebook statement Saturday, the veteran politician noted that the achievement will take more than the newfound romance between a group of former political rivals allied to the two and ongoing efforts to unite former rival communities associated with the leaders.

He advised the President to take the first step by sharing the national cake among equally all Kenyans, stressing on the need to include all Kenyans on matters leadership and national resources, faulting the current situation where only a section of the nation seems to be benefiting.

''Uniting Kenya must not mean uniting Kikuyu and Luo elites as it seems. It must mean bringing all Kenyans together. And precisely because government jobs and leadership positions in the Executive, Parliament or Judiciary must belong to all, uniting Kenya cannot mean a few ethnic elites eating together at the exclusion of others,'' said the leader.

''It means sharing and distributing power and resources equitably to all Kenyans. Kenya cannot be united when there is ethnic and economic marginalization. But to reverse class and ethnic marginalization, we need social democracy, the only social economic system with a thought for the poor,'' he added.

Odinga and Kenyatta kicked off the joint national unity and healing pursuit after a 2-hour closed door conversation at the President's Harambee House offices in Nairobi on March 9.
