Nakuru politician Koigi wa Wamwere has plunged himself into the raging debate over President Uhuru Kenyatta's win legitimacy.

Koigi, who leans toward Raila Odinga's NASA, said that legitimacy is what is chosen by the people themselves.

"For leadership to be legitimate, you must choose it," the former Subukia MP said.

He added: "It must serve you and it must protect your dignity, unity and equality with others. Legitimate leadership must never rob you or anybody else."

There has been debate over the legitimacy of President Uhuru Kenyatta's presidency if sworn into office.

During an interview with CNN earlier, Deputy President William Ruto said legitimacy is not a moving target.

"Legitimacy has been defined in the constitution. And we have achieved it in this election," he said.
