Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange has asked those implicated in corruption deeds to resign and allow investigations to be carried out.
Koinange has asked the Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and National Assembly's Public Accounts Committee Chairman Ababu Namwamba to resign over Mumias Sugar scandal and the scandals surrounding PAC respectively.
“Namwamba has been accused of doctoring reports that come before his committee in exchange for bribes. Kidero ate the Mumias sugar and these people must go home to pave way for investigations; here we are talking about billions of taxpayers' money,” Koinange told journalists in Karuri, Kiambu on Thursday.
The MP further asked the National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi to exercise his authority and ask Namwamba to step aside, while having the committee constituted afresh.
He said that PAC is the public eye on public finance and the committee facing such big credibility issues; it can only be dissolved for Kenyans to have trust in it again.
“Kenyans must see justice being done and that can only be through taking radical measures that will see the fast waning public confidence in PAC back,” he added.
