Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange has said that there is a need to come up with other centers of excellence in the county rather than just relying on the existing ones.
Koinange spoke to journalists in Kiambaa yesterday, saying that the over-reliance on schools like Alliance High School was doing no good to improving the education standards in the county.
"In Kiambaa last year we had a primary school that has never taken anyone to high school take 22 pupils to national schools. It would be painful if such pupils who toiled so hard missed the schools of their choices because there are no vacancies for them,” said Koinange.
The MP has said that through CDF – which he says should not be abolished but even boosted further – better schools could be established.
"In 2014 alone, in Kiambaa we were able to build five secondary schools because we have seen children start to see the importance of education. We want these schools to be future Alliances,” Koinange said.
At the same time Koinange has urged parents, teachers and pupils to continue working as a team saying that it had led to good results in last year's National examinations.
