Speaking on Friday evening Joseph Muasya a resident of Tala explained the theft incidences that have been occurring in the area most involving livestock theft.

“In the past two weeks there have been three cases of unknown people breaking into homes and stealing our property. Yesterday they broke into my neighbor’s home at night and made away with two bulls. This situation is pulling us backwards,” said Muasya.

The residents called upon the County government and the Matungulu County Commissioner Ann Gakuria to step in so as to salvage the situation.

According to the residents the insecurity increase is as a result of lack of a police station nearby. The nearest police station is more than 15 KM from Koma location which is Tala police station and the other is along Kangundo Nairobi road which is also 15KM away.

The residents have therefore urged the County government to beef up night security operations so that residents are assured of their security.

Security is also a major contribution to development in the area because even business owners are forced to close down their shops early fearing for their security.

This comes less than a week after a man was attacked in Nguluni location in the same Sub-County by unknown people as he walked home from work.
