Opposition leader Raila Odinga, has been accused of betraying Kenyans of the Luhya community.

According to the former Regional Development cabinet minister Musikari Kombo, Raila caused them not to be in power, after he allegedly fought the late Kijana Wamalwa, politicaly.

Wamalwa who was the vice president under Mwai Kibaki presidency, died August 2003. He represented the Luhya community.

Kombo said Raila fought Wamalwa, during the 1997 general elections, when he sought to be the president.

"If it were not for Raila, Wamalwa Kijana could have ascended to power in 1997. Raila fought Wamalwa and moved out of Ford Kenya to form the National Democratic Party (NDP), which merged with KANU when he (Wamalwa) was seeking to be president in 1997," the former Webuye MP said.

He asked the Luhya community not to vote for Raila, as he seeks to be Kenya's fifth president in August 8, saying if NDP did not merge to form KANU, Wamalwa would have sent the then President Daniel arap Moi, in the 1997 polls.

This, Kombo said, would have elevated the Luhya community, politically.

He noted Raila should not be welcomed in Luhya land, adding that he costed them.

Kombo who spoke at his Webuye residence, supports President Uhuru Kenyatta's second term bid.

He asked Luhyas to also support Kenyatta, saying he has their interests at heart, after Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi, left the presidency, for Raila, under Nasa.

His sentiments follows those of Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba, Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, Bungoma governor Ken Lusaka, who said Raila and Nasa was playing tricks to the Luhya community.
