Kiambu Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Nobert Komora has put criminals on notice.

The DCC said that criminals in the area will be hunted down and smoked out from their hide outs.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday in Kiambu Town, Komora said police have stepped up their efforts to hunt down criminals across the county.

He said that police have been deployed to hunt down armed criminals who have been causing havoc in some parts of Kiambu.

“It is not going to be business as usual because the police have stepped up the fight against criminal gangs across Kiambu,” he said.

Komora said police are well prepared to deal with criminal gangs stating that they have employed enough mechanisms.

He said that police are determined to restore law and order across Kiambu urging residents to cooperate with them.

“We are urging residents across Kiambu County to work with the police as they strive to eliminate criminals. Security will be realised if the residents volunteer information on suspected criminal gangs,” he said.

This comes after a gunman was killed by police in Ndumberi on Tuesday.

The gunman was gunned down by police following a tip off from members of the public.

According to police, the gunman is part of a gang that has been causing havoc in Ndumberi and adjacent towns.

Police recovered a toy gun, crude weapons and several stolen items including vehicle headlights.

There had been concerns over deteriorating security within Ndumberi and the neighbouring Ting’ang’a ward with residents raising concerns over the existence of criminal gangs that cause them sleepless nights.

In his address during the Jamhuri day celebrations, Kiambu Governor William Kabogo called on security enforcers to up their game and guarantee safety of the residents.
