Former Home Affairs assistant minister and Bomet East parliamentary hopeful Beatrice Kones has finally spoken on her relationship with her eldest son and political rival Kevin Kipngetich.
The two are garnering for the same seat during the forthcoming general elections.
Mrs Kones is set to vie on a Jubilee Party ticket, whereas the son will be seeking the parliamentary seat on a Chama Cha Mashinani Party ticket.
Speaking over the weekend, Kones admitted that the competition with her son has brewed controversy and tension within the family, expressing fear that the family could fall apart in the distant future.
She further accused the CCM Party leader and Bomet governor Isaac Rutto of bankrolling Kipngetich, in a move aimed at "finishing her politically."
“Ruto wants to see my family disintegrate so that he does not face any challenge in his bid to rule the Kipsigis politics,” she noted.
“I have no doubt in my mind that Ruto is using my son to fight me politically as part of a wider scheme to make sure there is no one politically active in my family because he wants to take over as a Kipsigis spokesman,” she added.
