The over 700 traders at the Kongowea Market have condemned the death of their chairman Mr Ndunga Daniel Ndii.
The late Ndii was burnt beyond recognition in his house in Kisauni constituency, an incident that has caused disquiet among the traders who have read mischief in his death.
On Thursday, they called upon the police to launch speedy investigations into the fire tragedy that led to his death.
"Mr Ndii was leaving in constant fear since the day he was elected the chair of the Kongowea traders. This was when the previous chair Mr Ali Mtsumi opted to step down from the race citing political interference and leadership wrangles within the coveted seat," said Veronicah Njuguna, a trader.
Kisauni OCPD, Richard Ngatia, however, appealed for calm from the traders as they investigate the matter to unravel the mystery.
"We are yet to know whether it was fate or it was induced. I urge you to remain calm since we are up to the task and we will unravel the cause of the death," Ngatia told kenya.news24.com.
