After a long wait, construction at the much-awaited Konza City is in progress.
The construction of the first structure is in progress, with the Konza City Development Authority will occupy two floors on the building, with other companies planning to start early development plans in the city having office space.
“Konza City is now at the take-off, it is coming from the plans to actual implementation. And with the first structure, it is evident that things are running now, you can see also the contractor who has settled up here, to now provide city amenities,” said one for the officials.
The government has set aside Sh73 billion in the current financial year to help actualize the project, with the agenda being the laying the necessary infrastructure, before developing the city that will occupy 5000 acres of land.
“Sh40 billion is going into the Horizontal infrastructure like the roads, the sewerage, water and other different projects that are within Konza. There are many others outside that will support the ecosystem here,” said ICT CS Joe Mucheru.
Already the Korean University, Power company Ketraco, the National Construction Authority, and software company Craft Silicon have already indicated their interest in setting up shop in the city.
Other investors have also shown interest in investing in the city.
