The departmental committee on lands convened after a group of Machakos county residents claimed ownership of the land on which Konza techno city is to be built on but the Electoral and boundaries commission poured cold water on the claims, insisting that the digital city lies at the heart of Makueni county.

IEBC vice Chair Lilian Mahiri Zaja further insisted that the boundaries still remain as spelled out in the boundary act of 1992 and that nothing has been altered so far.

However, Senate lands Lands committee chair Lenny Kivuti noted that there were indications that the maps held by the IEBC do not tally with those at the ministry of Lands.

"There is a lot of disparities between boundaries from the Independent Boundaries Commission IEBC and the boundaries known to the residents on the ground.

It is important that this matter be addressed holistically because there is no such thing as administrative boundaries anymore," said Kivuti.
