Korane was elated on Saturday with the support as the country heads to the polls this year, saying it was time that their voices got heard in the county's political arena.

He discussed a wide range of issues affecting the community and the larger Garissa County people under the current leadership.

“The community supported the effort to bring meaningful change to our county and agreed to invite me for further consultation on how to better our county,” he said.

The latest progress came to the fore after the community invited him for an event which was held at Hidig Palace Hotel, Garissa County.

The Ajuran people now become the second to offer support for Korane, after the Marehan community.

It is now clear that the incumbent Nathif Jama will have a tough battle to defend the seat, given the fact that the two Garissa County politicians enjoy almost similar following from the electorate.

In 2013 general elections, Korane came second after Nathif Jama, who was crowned the duly elected governor by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
