Jubilee gubernatorial aspirant Ali Korane has engaged incumbent Governor Nathif Jama in a bitter exchange of words over what has been reported as perennial shortage of water in the county.
Korane uttered the unspeakable to Jama, saying the latter has been taking the locals for a donkey ride.
Korane led hundreds of his ardent supporters across the town carrying placards and empty containers in protest against water shortage that has hit local towns, leaving the residents with nothing to use.
The gubernatorial aspirant lamented that despite the governor allocating huge sums of money to the water sector, nothing tangible had been done to alleviate the situation.
"The present county administration has largely failed to provide locals with even the simplest of basic services like the provision of water. Mothers and small children are trekking for long distances in the present age in search of water for domestic usage. A similar situation is also happening in other big towns across the county," lamented Korane.
The county has been witnessing frequent water outages. The situation has compelled stakeholders in regional leadership to seek alternatives, with the area MP hinting that the Garissa Water and Sewerage Company (GAWASCO) needed to be reverted back to the national governmet.
