Garissa governor Ali Bunow Korane has assured residents that he will honor his promise to supply them with clean tap water in 100 days.
The governor says that he has put in place proper measures to ensure residents get clean water.
Speaking to journalists when he visited Garissa water plant on Thursday, Korane said that lack of clean water is the main problem facing residents.
He said that his government will set aside more funds to drill boreholes and irrigation dams. “We are already working on ways of ensuring that residents get water in the shortest time possible,” he said as quoted by the Standard.
The governor said that the county will achieve its goals once the water problem is tackled.
He said that the county has adequate water resource, adding that poor management is to blame for lack of supply.
He criticized the previous government saying it did nothing to ensure residents get water.
Governor Korane said that he is already in talks with investors who he said will pump money into the water sector. He asked residents to be patient assuring them that their taps will be running in the next 100 days.
Provision of water was Korane’s major campaign agenda in the recently concluded general election.
