Speaking in Garissa town, the vibrant politician highlighted that the  Al-Shabaab menace, lack of enough employment opportunities for the youth and loss of sustainable source of livelihood for the herders were his biggest nightmares.

Korane  disclosed that the Al-Shabaab security threat has persisted for close to the last seven years and had scared away many potential investors thus slowing business growth in the region.

"Insecurity remains a major concern scaring away investors willing to transact in our county," said Korane who was speaking at a Garissa hotel together with the Swiss Ambassador to Kenya Mr Ralf Heckner.

He further noted that his administration was willing to engage the international donor communities in bridging budgetary deficits on programs geared towards uplifting the well-being of area residents.

Korane added that the persistent recurring drought that is now an annual phenomenon has created a group of the many destitute herders who have lost their alternative sources of livelihood in the ongoing drought.
