The governor said that the move is part of county government’s restructuring process and the positions will be advertised for new applications.

According to the Star, Korane said while the officials are on leave, they will be required to avail any information pertaining to their departments if need arise.

“This order will remain in force until I appoint new office bearers. All sub-counties and Ward administrators have been instructed to report to deputy governor Abdi Dagane for further instructions,” he said.

Deputy governor Dagane has been appointed the acting CEC finance to ensure that essential services are not disrupted during the transition period among them payment of salaries to the staff.

Governor Korane further said that his administration will seek to identify all the ghost workers in the county who have been receiving salaries.

“We shall also audit the payroll against the staff list. There are several areas we are looking into, including outstanding bills owed to contractors and other service providers,” Korane said.

“I want to assure all the county staff that there will be not victimization. If you were employed procedurally, then you have reason to panic,” he said as quoted by the Star.
