Garissa County boss Ali Korane has said that officers fired from his government do not exist in the records of the board.  According to the county boss, the audit being conducted at the county is based on the records contained by the Public Service Board (PSB).

This is after the fired county workers took to the streets in protest against the government over what they consider an illegal action by the governor.

Speaking to the press, the county boss said that PSB only recognized 6350 members of staff thereby compelling him to take an action against those whose names could not be traced in the records.

He also said that the county is not aware how they were recruited, adding that he is not ready to leave room for ghost workers to reap where they have not sown.

“The numbers who were left out do not exist. It’s the board which said it doesn’t recognize them. We don’t know where they came from, their identity and we have nothing to do with them,” Korane said, as quoted by The Star.

Korane also said that the county also said that the county has embarked on determining whether the positions of the sacked employees are really existent before he can consider them in his plan as he seeks to transform the county in the next five years of his leadership.
