Supporters of Garissa gubernatorial aspirant Ali Bunow Korane have nicknamed him Trump, saying he is headed for a big win in the forthcoming 2017 general elections.
Korane's supporters, who were watching the US elections proceedings at a Garissa hotel came up with the title just as final results of the hotly contested presidential elections indicated that the republican Donald Trump had trounced his biggest rival Hillary Clinton.
The ardent supporters of Korane now say their favourite gubernatorial aspirant will emerge victorious to beat the incumbent Jama by a large margin.
What is not clear about the new title assigned to the hopeful is whether his political ideologies resemble those of the US republican.
The race towards the hotly vied post of Garissa County governor is speedily gaining momentum, with the battle expected to be between Jama and Korane.
Just a week ago, another aspirant is reported to have withdrawn his interest in the position and rallied behind Jama, with the hope of being supported by the incumbent in 2022.
What now remains is for the Garissa electorate to make their choices come elections day, and it is just a matter of months before the fate of Garissa's Trump is determined.
