Garissa Governor Ali Korane on Tuesday said that he is committed to ensuring that the region becomes developed in the next five years of his leadership.

Speaking during Jamhuri Day celebrations, the first time county boss called upon the residents to back in the bid to restore the lost glory of Garissa County. “We want to focus our energy on bringing residents together irrespective of their political persuasions,” he said, as quoted by The Star.Korane pledged to work with different parties to ensure that his development goals are realized in the end.He also hailed immediate former Governor Nathif Jama for dropping an election petition seeking to nullify his win during the August General Elections.Speaking during Jamhuri Day celebrations, Korane said that Jama decided to drop the petition following wide consultation between his and the latter’s clans.  Jama, however, has not come out to tell residents that he has withdrawn the suit but the elders have insisted that there is no case between the duo. Korane also dismissed claims that the former governor was put under pressure to withdraw the case. “I want to make it clear there was no inducement from me or any quarters, nor was there any pressure for Nathif to drop the case,” Korane added.
