Moiben MP, Silas Tiren has called on the President Uhuru Kenya and his Deputy to reinstate the Cabinet secretary for Agriculture Felix Koskei since he is not guilty, terming that his absence in the Ministry has largely affected its running.

Speaking in Eldoret on Monday Tiren said after his investigation and taken to the high court for his acquittal with four other cabinet secretaries on corruption allegations he was found not guilty.

“Why has he not been reinstated and yet he is not guilty farmers are really feeling the heat, everything is not in order starting since his suspension from CAN fertilizers, reduction of budgetary allocation of agriculture to 2.7 billion which is a drop in the ocean, farmers have always been taken for a ride through inadequate funding yet agriculture is the back bone of our economy and source of livelihood ” he said.

“We are a signatory of the Maputo declaration which states that agriculture should be given at least 10% of the national budget but in Kenya it’s the other way round where agriculture is only given 4% while other sectors are given a lot of funding Koskei must be reinstated with an immediate effect for sanity to be brought back to agriculture sector “he said

He advised the President to act with an immediate effect before things are out of hand before they take it to the streets

He urged the National government to allow Cereals and Produce board to sell overstayed maize which dates back up to 2008 to have more space to purchase current maize from farmers since they are usually denied chances to sell their produce.
