The University of Nairobi students’ union chairman Paul Ogili alias Babu Owino found himself on the receiving end after he criticised President Uhuru Kenyatta over Jubilee Party.
Babu Owino who has lately been seen with Opposition leader Raila Odinga in political rallies criticised the newly formed Jubilee Party on Twitter, saying it is founded on personal interests and bought loyalty.
Uhuru announced on Tuesday that 12 partied had agreed to fold to join the party, which he will use to seek re-election come 2017.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta's newly formed Jubilee Party is founded on personal interests and bought loyalty,” Babu posted on Tuesday.
What followed were a series of scathing attacks on the SONU leader, who is said to be eyeing Embakasi East parliamentary seat.
Some accused Babu of bribing voters during his campaigns at the University.
“Boss ulikuwa unanunua kura campus…you can’t preach!!! – (You used to buy votes in campus, you can’t lecture us)” – one Oushda claimed.
Other Jubilee supporters told Babu that his opinion on the new merger did not matter.
“We Jubilee supporters don’t need your opinion,” said Fantanone Kamau.
Peter Santoni defended Babu, accusing Jubilee of hampering democracy in the country.
“Newly formed Jubilee Party has killed internal democracy within its membership & they still call Raila a dictator? Shame.”
Raila has also accused the President of intending to kill democracy by luring political parties into mergers.
