Under the hashtag #Fakehandshake Kenyans have expressed their disappointment in the Uhuru-Raila pact which they claim should have prevented Miguna from being humiliated.

Mr. Odinga arrived at the airport on Monday evening to secure the release of Mr. Miguna after the government had insisted that he must surrender his Canadian passport before being allowed into the country.

Mr. Odinga, however, failed to secure the release of self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) general.

The presence of Mr. Odinga at the airport was not enough to stop the police from manhandling Miguna, leaving his clothes torn and journalists injured.

This is what Kenyans had to say after the drama:

@JuliusMmasi: BABA @RailaOdinga I have followed you and supported your principles for over 10 years, But after mistreatment of #migunamiguna At #JKIA upon #MigunaReturns Today I break One of the Principles which is The #FakeHandshake I denounce it and will not, therefore, support it, DENOUNCE IT!!

@Lazooj: Armed with a #FakeHandshake @RailaOdinga could do nothing to prevent Miguna Miguna from being whisked away what a shame. #MigunaReturns

@MirikauFredrick: Raila lost trust from supporters after the bloody handshake. So sad that I supported it. I denounce. Raila must denounce the handshake and his political image that was sinking will be redeemed. Fight for Miguna's violated rights using the people's power. #Fakehandshake

@kubasubrian: Those uneducated despotic puppets had the audacity to tear the Generals expensively cut suit. #MigunaReturns #FakeHandshake

@GeneralMkenya: As Kenyans, we can't allow impunity bcoz of mending some imaginary bridges...I refuse to support the #FakeHandshake and will stand with @MigunaMiguna #MigunaReturns

@branislav_brian: Someone has played a game in as far as the #FakeHandShake is concerned...all this was planned. H.E @RailaOdinga the sooner you disassociate yourself with that handshake the better for everyone one including the general #MigunaReturns #IStandWithMiguna #migunamiguna
