The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) top official Dr Roselyne Akombe was on Tuesday night held at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport after State officers pulled her out of the plane and barred her from leaving for the US, under unclear circumstances.

It took the intervention of the US Embassy for Akombe to be released from police custody and be transferred to government pavilion at JKIA.

She was cleared to travel on Wednesday morning and will be back in the country on Sunday, according to the IEBC.
