Kenyans online have expressed missed reactions after the Cabinet Secretary for Defense Raychelle Omamo presented the KDF spokesperson Col Joseph Muloa Owuoth on camera after a section of Kisumu leaders led by senator Anyang’ Nyong’o claimed he was missing.
During a press conference at the Kenya Army Headquarters in Nairobi, Tuesday, Omamo confirmed that Owouth was fine.
She went on to condemn the remarks made by the opposition leaders noting such statements not only threaten the security of the state but also cause great anxiety to the officers concerned and their families and expose them to danger.
The KDF spokesperson also refuted the allegations that he had disappeared noting he has been on duty.
However, a section of Kenyans who followed the presser keenly noted Owuoth seemed to be stressed while issuing his statement. They further went on to claim he was forced to agree he was well.
Below are some reactions from Kenyans on Twitter (KoT):
“@Kiigenkk: You can't be away from family, on suspension and at work at the same time. Only logical explanation is some form of detention. #OwuothSaga
@Asamoh_: KDF spokesman Colonel Owuoth is looking stressed. Must be forced and given a script #OwuothSaga
@mcwanjohi: #OwuothSaga kenya needs a dictator president who will rule forever to avoid this tension after every 5 years in the name of election.
@samkabora: #OwuothSaga he looks stressed meaning he has been coerced to agree to their demands
@otieno96austine: Owuoth was paraded before us and went on to contradict Omamo.Methinks he's under scrutiny and isn't allowed communication. #OwuothSaga
@leemakwiny: We are glad social media pressure has worked. Owuoth family can now sleep in peace. #OwuothSaga
@KinyanBoy: #OwuothSaga as I've said before, Kenyans have no idea what they're dealing with. For now happy to see Col. Owuoth 'alive'.”
