Kenyans on social media have reacted after huge fire destroyed property of unknown value on Sunday night at Kijiji slums in Lang'ata.A section of them expressed disappointment with the county government after it took fire engines more than an hour to arrive at the scene with those that arrived running out of water. Others suggested that residential areas should have hydrants connected to a reliable water source for quick access during emergency while some wondered where the 26 fire engines that President Uhuru Kenyatta launched in 2017 had gone.

The inferno left several hoses and business structures destroyed. Here is what KOT had to say:@Waambui noted, "Sad how Langata fire has spread & consumed so much, as fire engines ran out of water. Residential areas must have fire hydrants connected to a reliable water source for quick access during emergency. But obviously, poor planning & bad governance are costing Kenyans. Terrible!"@mboya_k asked, "Surely whats the point of @county_nairobi 's fire brigade going to Kijiji in Langata without enough water???" @PhilipOgola noted, "Kijiji Fire in Langata is another lesson 🔥🔥can break out almost anywhere unexpectedly & WHY its KEY for @county_nairobi to instal easily accessible clearly marked #Fire hydrants on highways, slums & public footpaths."@Brighton_Okoth said, "There is no water to put out the Langata fire but on Tuesday there'll be more than enough to pour on NASA supporters."@briankipkemoi2 wrote, "When kidero was Governor Sonko rescue team would respond to all emergencies now that @MikeSonko is governor empty fire engines are sent to Langata."@sarah_julyet asked, "langata Where are those water cannons that pour water at NASA demonstrators n fire brigadiers to help Langata residents? Or you want to arrive at 6am when everything is ash."

@Asmali77 suggested, "There are 17 Constituencies in Nairobi County. Why don't we have 17 Fully Equipped Fire Engines permanently based in each constituency. It's not rocket science surely."

@Salomelugard wondered, "# LangataFire is an eviction ,2hours later nothing ,Where are the 26 fire engines that uhuru launched or the drivers have gone to see their girlfriends?"
