Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua came under fierce criticism after posting a condolence message following the demise of Kitui West Member of Parliament Francis Nyenze. It is clear that netizens were not happy with the message of the second term governor, who has hinted at contesting for the nation’s top seat come 2022.

Mutua alluded that the deceased had told him he was tired of dirty politics before he took his breath at a Nairobi Hospital following a long battle with cancer. The county boss posted;

“I am saddened by the passing of Hon. Nyenze - a good man, a friend and a voice of reason. He was a smart & diplomatic leader who cared about his people. He told me he was fed up with sycophancy perpetuated in our region and supported my politics of development. I will miss him” he wrote, as quoted by Standard.

Social media users attacked the governor for what they termed as chest thumbing.

You never said it when he was alive. Why should we believe what you are saying?— Awiti Otieno™ (@awitiotieno)

Do you have to introduce politics in a message of condolence?? Just say pole and people will appreciate. — jay mairura (@jay_inc) December 6, 2017.
