The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) is constructing a modern cruise the terminal at the port of Mombasa aimed at complementing the tourism the sector in the region.
According to KPA Director Catherine Mturi-Wairi, the Sh350 million terminal is a joint funding by Kenya government and Trade Mark East Africa, a private firm.
Mturi-Wairi commended the new development saying it came at a right time when Mombasa is getting more cruise ships to her shores.
“Currently, we continue to receive cruise ships at the main cargo terminal but the new facility is expected to be completed by October 2018," said Mturi-Wairi.
She added, “the new cruise shipping facility once functional will be able to welcome mega cruise ships”.
