Kenya Parents Association (KPA) has written to the National Assembly objecting the implementation of Basic Education Rules and Regulations, 2015.
The regulations were gazetted last month by Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi amid uproar from teachers' unions and other education stakeholders.
Speaking in Kuresoi on Wednesday after meeting stakeholders in Molo KPA chairman Musau Ndunda said that they reached that decision after learning that the regulations are in contravention with Basic Education Act.
"We have found that the circular which was released by the Ministry of Education is not in line with the Basic Education Act. We hence oppose its implementation," said Musau.
Musau said that the regulations might cause confusion in the education sector.
"We for instance feel that there are no clear guidelines governing the election of school boards and therefore the regulations must be reviewed with inclusion of all stakeholders," noted Musau.
