Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) women’s team squandered its chance of reclaiming national glory after it lost to Equity Hawk 73-68 in game five of the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) series play-offs finals played on Monday at the Nyayo Stadium Gymnasium.

The team, which last won the league title in 2015, took the play-offs to game five after winning game four on Sunday leaving the sides tied up 2-2 hence the game decider.Their efforts to emerge victorious, however, turned futile when Equity proved too strong with Mercy Wanyama, younger sister to Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama, leading the damage by raking in 36 points to steer her team to victory. The win, which was Equity's maiden league title, was a remarkable one noting they were formed barely three years ago before finding their way to the topflight tier. The KPA men's team, however, downed Co-op Bank 79-66 on Sunday to win their first title since 2014.
