The Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) has unveiled plans to establish a gas plant in Mombasa.

The liquefied petroleum gas plant is expected to become operational in two years. The completion of the project is poised to reduce the price of gas in the country. The company, however, is yet to disclose the anticipated price cuts after the new move.KPC communication manager Jason Nyantino said the company has plans to acquire 300 acres, which are part of the Kenya Petroleum Refineries, for the establishment of the new plant. “Feasibility study is still on. For now we cannot accurately estimate the reduction cost, but for sure there will be drastic reduction,” said Nyantino, as quoted by the Star. In March, KPC increased the pricing of refiling gas due the high rate of inflation in the nation. The company has similar plants in Nakuru, Eldoret and Kisumu. The establishment of the new plant is also expected to create job opportunities for Mombasa residents.
