Kenya Premier League (KPL) teams have stepped up preparations ahead of the 2018 KPL season kick off. The season will kick off during the first weekend of next month.

A section of teams are participating in friendly matches to build momentum ahead of kick off, with the league expected to be extremely competitive owing to new signings made by some of the teams.

On Saturday, KPL giants AFC Leopards thrashed National Super League (NSL) side Bidco United 2-0 in a build up match played at the Thika Sub-County Stadium.

The goals were scored by new signings Erick Bekoe and Jeffery Owiti respectively.

Elsewhere, 2008 KPL Champions Mathare United demolished Dandora Hotspurs 6-0 in a friendly match played at Mathare United’s Goan Institute training ground in Nairobi.

On Friday, Kariobangi Sharks beat Nairobi Stima 7-1 in a match played at the Utalii Grounds.

Stima faced Sharks one day after playing 2016 KPL Champions Tusker FC. Stima lost the match 4-1.

Kariobangi Sharks, Tusker FC and AFC Leopards finished 3rd, 6th and 8th in the 2017 KPL season with 52, 50 and 45 points respectively.
