Kenya Premier League (KPL) newcomers Nzoia United demolished defending champions Tusker FC 5-2 in an opening premier league match staged at Nakuru's Afraha Stadium on Saturday, March 11.

The millers began their match on a high but it was Tusker who touched the back of the net first with only nine minutes of play through Noah Wafula.

Nzoia pulled one back through an Elvis Rupia free kick outside the box and added another from an Edwin Wafula spot kick to head into the breather leading 2-1.

On resumption, Shafik Batambuze levelled matters 2-2 but that was the furthest the brewers could get as Brian Otieno capitalised on a corner to fire Nzoia back up 3-2.

Otieno would return at the hour mark to grab his brace and Nzoia's fourth.

Despite bringing in Olwande for league debutant Sidney Ochieng and Ssempala for Mike Khamati, Tusker's fate was yet to be sealed as Boniface Omondi shot in direct from the corner flag to give the millers their fifth.

Tusker were awarded a penalty in the dying minutes but Clifford Alwanga could not convert it, leaving things to go to the final whistle 5-2 for the Ben Mwalala-coached Nzoia.
