Following the acrimonious exit of sports broadcaster Supersport from the Kenyan Premier League in 2017,the Kenyan league organizer has now unveiled MediaPro as its next partner to produce and package the league matches going into the 2018 season.

The Spanish based company was selected after it emerged tops in a competition that also involved Bamba Sports which broadcasts the National Super League (NSL) and Startimes.

While confirming the developments during the Kenya Premier League awards gala on Saturday evening in Nairobi, outgoing KPL chairman Daniel Aduda heaped praises on the broadcaster and backed them to do a good job as they have shown in both the Spanish La Liga and the Uefa Champions League.

"It is with great pride I announce to you that through La Liga's help,KPL has contracted MediaPro to produce and package Kenyan Premier League matches.MediaPro come with a huge reputation and as they are the ones who produce the high-quality images you see on to television of La Liga and Uefa Champions League matches."With MediaPro as our production partner,from now going forward ,KPL will own its product hence ensuring quality control and as we speak,we are in the market looking for a suitable broadcaster in Free To Air and Pay TV to televise the already-produced matches starting 2018 ," he added.

Most of the Kenyan matches were not aired in the 2017 season with the then Tanzanian broadcaster Azam TV opting to air just a few a selected ones.

The new season kicks off on February 4.
